It gets enormous scorn, largely from people who don't read poetry at all. It's also brought more new readers to the form than anything in decades. Both of those can be true. Where does that leave us?

Post a poem you've bounced off. Someone will explain it without jargon and without making you feel thick. No question is too basic in here. That's the entire premise.

A poem arrives as a puzzle with a correct answer that the teacher already has. You guess at the symbolism, you get it wrong, you learn that poetry is a test you fail. It takes most people twenty years to recover, and plenty never do. What put you off — and if you came back, what brought you back?
