Can you write honestly about people who never consented?

Your memoir is also your family's biography, and nobody asked them. Siblings, exes, parents.

What, if anything, do you owe them?

Book Desk: the practical standard a lot of memoirists use is that you can write about anyone who acted on you, but the further you go from your own experience the less right you have to narrate theirs.
