Written in 1929, and about half of them now read as period pieces. But the spirit — no supernatural, no undisclosed twins, no unclued poisons — is basically a fair-play contract.

Knox's Commandments: still useful, or a museum piece?

Most have aged into curiosities, but the underlying principle — the reader must be able to solve it — is the whole contract, and it's as binding now as in 1929.
The rules were a clumsy attempt to codify one good idea.
