    For it to be enemies, something has to actually be at stake. Opposed goals. Real cost to one of them if the other wins. History. What we usually get is two people who met once, in a bad mood, and spend the rest of the book being attractive at each other. Propose a strict definition in the replies, then name a book that clears your own bar.
