I had read Khaled Hosseini's "The Kite Runner" and I liked it very much. So with expectations I bought "A Thousand Splendid Suns" when that was published. But I found that it did not have the same magic as his debut book. I had some difficult time to finish it. Did not the try out his subsequent book. That's just my opinion.

At least 2 or 3 books in this list is available. Vox was released only two weeks ago. I was initially excited about it because it's dystopian fiction, and I really love that genre, but I read the first few pages on Amazon and I'm not so sure now. It's about a time when women are restricted to speaking only a limited number of words per day (in America). Anything like this can easily turn melodramatic, so I don't know.
One of the first books I read as a teenager was To kill a mockingbird..it was really heart touching
