I AM USING WINDOWS 7 IN MY PC While running the net protector, I have observed that it takes a lot of time to scan. The reason is that there are "pending rename" files in the C/WINDOWS/WINSXS/TEMP folder. They are about one lakh in number. How to get rid of them? I had once read a solution on net, and brought them to zero. But now I have forgotten, and cannot get it. They become more than one lakh.I HAD READ SOMEWHERE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE DELETED STRAIGHT AWAY.

CAN ANYONE PROVIDE A METHOD TO GET RID OF THE ACCUMULATED "PENDINGRENAME" FILES?

simply clear temp files and try

NO, WHEN I SEARCHED ON VARIOUS FORUMS ON INTERNET, IT IS SPECIFICALLY TOLD NOT TO DELETE THESE FILES. THEY HAVE A ROLE WHICH I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. BUT WHEN IT IS SPECIFICALLY ADVISED NOT TO DELETE, I DONT THINK I CAN TRY.

What Is temporally File?

Alternatively referred to as a foo file, a temporary file or temp file is a file created to hold information temporarily while a file is being created. After the program has been closed, the temporary file should be deleted. Temporary files are used to help recover lost data if the program or computer is abnormally halted.

Microsoft Windows and Windows programs often create a .TMP file as a temporary file. However, the Windows temporary folder can contain any file, not just .tmp files.

so dont panic

this is a PendingRename file kept in temp folder. Why the files do not automatically removed by windows if they are not of any use? I request u to pl check as other forums said ,the system may become unstable if they r deleted.

okie.. no problem take a screenshot and upload it

now i checked try these

Tap on the Windows-key if you are not on the start screen.Type Disk Cleanup and select "Free up disk space by deleting unnecessary files".Click on the button "Clean up system files". The application restarts and additional cleanup options are available.Look for the entries "Previous Windows installation(s)" - if you have upgraded from a previous version - and "Windows Update Cleanup". Select these and any others you want to clean. It is safe to select all available options.Note: If you select the above two options you will no longer be able to restore a previous version of Windows or a previous update. After running Disk Cleanup perform a system restart and then repeat the procedure, restarting again.

Ok, thanx i wkll do it and revert
