In 1977, Raymond opened the first Victoria 's store. Secret at Stanford Mall in California. He envisioned a space where men would feel comfortable buying intimate gifts for their partners, without the embarrassment they often faced in conventional stores. To achieve this, he created an elegant atmosphere, with Victorian decor, soft lighting and display cases displaying delicate and seductive pieces.
