Focus on History & Civics for Class 8

The series Focus on History and Civics for Classes 6 to 8 has been developed and designed strictly according to the latest curriculum prepared and recommended by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The objective of this new curriculum in History and Civics is to help the students not only to understand and analyse; but also to participate effectively in their future world and use their critical, mental and moral energy in a positive manner. Main Objectives of teaching History and Civics at this level are : To enable children to l Learn about the past by creating a sense of historical diversity. l Understand timelines and historical maps. l Create a strong sense of human values. l Make connections between political, social and economic issues and recognise the ways in which politics affects their daily lives. l Imbibe the values of Indian Constitution and their significance in everyday life. l Understand the normative dimensions like issues of equality, justice and dignity in society and polity.
