How to Reflect After Finishing a Book

ReflectionNotes

Finishing a book too quickly can waste part of its value. Reflection gives the book a chance to settle in your mind.

Start with three simple prompts. What did the book say? What stayed with me? What will I do or think about differently now?

You do not need long notes. Five honest sentences are usually better than a full page of vague summary.

If the book was fiction, reflect on character, mood, and what felt true. If the book was nonfiction, reflect on the main idea and where it applies in your life.

Reflection turns reading from consumption into growth. It helps the book continue working after you close it.
