How to Read Slower and Gain More
Deep ReadingFocus
Speed reading has its place, but most of us lose more than we gain when we rush. Reading slower lets ideas land properly before the next one arrives.
Try reading a paragraph and pausing for five seconds before moving on. That small gap is enough for the mind to process and connect.
Slow reading also reduces re-reading. When you rush, you often realize you absorbed nothing and have to start the page again anyway.
Highlight less, not more. When you mark everything, nothing stands out. Slow reading helps you notice the one sentence that actually matters.
The goal of reading is not to finish. It is to understand, remember, and use. Slower reading serves all three of those goals better.
