Building a Reading List That Works
Book SelectionTips
Most reading lists grow faster than they shrink. New books get added constantly while the old ones sit untouched. A shorter, curated list works better.
Limit your active reading list to five books at most. One you are currently reading, two or three you will read next, and one wild card for whenever the mood hits.
Sort your list by energy required. Some books need full concentration. Others are easy company. Matching book to mood and energy prevents abandoned reads.
Every month, remove one book from the backlog that you have been avoiding. If you keep skipping it, it probably is not for you right now.
A reading list is a living document. Keep it small, honest, and updated. It should feel exciting to look at, not heavy.
