Joseph Hilaire Pierre René Belloc (27 July 1870 – 16 July 1953) was a French-English writer, politician, and historian. Belloc was also an orator, poet, sailor, satirist, writer of letters, soldier, and political activist. Belloc was considered one of the most versatile authors of the 20th century. His Catholicism had a strong effect on his works. Belloc became a naturalised British subject in 1902 while retaining his French citizenship.
